Murphy's web store goes Live

For the last 6 months we’ve been working on a project for Murphy’s The Cable Wharf. They are a local tour operator that runs the sailing and duck boat tours here on the Halifax Waterfront. You can see their web site at  Back in 2005, we wrote a real time, distributed booking/POS system for them that did away with their paper booking records. This year, they wanted to expand the system to provide for web based booking of tours, sell related merchandise and have it all integrated into their booking and ERP system.


On the July 1st weekend, the web store went live. You are now able to book tickets through the web store and it is completely integrated with their on premises booking/POS system. When you book a ticket, you have the choice of printing it or going paperless and displaying it on a smartphone. Barcodes on the ticket are scanned at boarding time using an iPhone app and Bluetooth barcode readers.


By all accounts, it is a big success!
